# Configure email on Murena Workspace

Murena Workspace lets you send and receive mail across the web or your favorite client, with modern security features, aliases, and filters all tied to your single Murena ID.

## Getting started with mail apps

- Sign in at [https://murena.io](https://murena.io) using your `@murena.io` or legacy `@e.email` address and password. Murena Mail, Thunderbird 3.1+, Evolution, KMail, Kontact, Outlook 2007+, and most other IMAP/SMTP clients work automatically once you authenticate.
- For Apple Mail (macOS or iOS), open [https://autoconfig.murena.io](https://autoconfig.murena.io/) and download the configuration package that pre-fills your credentials.

## Manual settings

Use these server details when your client asks for manual configuration:

- **Server:** `mail.ecloud.global` for both IMAP and SMTP
- **Username:** your full Murena address (e.g., `john.doe@murena.io` or `john.doe@e.email`)
- **Password:** your Murena Workspace password
- **SMTP port:** 587 with STARTTLS and authentication
- **IMAP port:** 993 with SSL/TLS and authentication

## Manage aliases and identities

You can send mail from either your legacy `@e.email` account or the new `@murena.io` alias. Move the identity you want to use by default to the top of the list in Murena Mail's **Settings → Accounts → Identities**, or add the alias inside your desktop client’s account properties (look for an **Aliases** section in Evolution, Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.).

On a phone, open the Mail app, go to **Settings → Accounts → Sending mail → Manage identities**, create the alias, then long-press it to **Move to top / make default** so it appears first whenever you compose a message.

## Encrypt with Mailvelope

1. Install Mailvelope for Firefox, Chrome, Edge, or another supported browser.
2. Open the extension, import or generate PGP keys, and back them up (a password is strongly recommended).
3. Import recipients’ public keys or search for them inside Mailvelope, and optionally switch to your OS key management for extra protection.
4. Visit [https://murena.io](https://murena.io), authorize `murena.io` in Mailvelope, and enable the API access so SnappyMail can trigger encryption/decryption.
5. Choose a security background in Mailvelope’s settings to guard against phishing.

When composing mail, click the new Mailvelope icon, write your message, and click **Encrypt**. Attachments are encrypted by opening Mailvelope and using **File Encryption**. Received encrypted messages show a hidden envelope icon; click it, enter your key password, and read the decrypted text inline.

## Organize mail with filters and spam controls

Use the Murena Workspace filters (SnappyMail → Settings → Filters) to move mail automatically. Click **+ Add a Filter**, set the conditions (use `Contains` for flexibility), choose the folder (e.g., `INBOX` or a custom folder), enable **Stop further processing**, hit **Done**, and save the filter. Activate it by selecting the dot beside `rainloop.user` to apply the rule.

To avoid false positives, whitelist trusted addresses or domains using a filter and save it on the server. The same procedure helps keep important mail from being marked as spam.

## Hide My Email

Generate disposable aliases from your account settings and copy them directly into any website or service that asks for an email address. Hide My Email creates a masking address that forwards to your inbox without exposing your main identity.

- **Find it:** Open the Murena Workspace dashboard, click your main account icon (top right), go to **Settings**, and select **Hide My Email** from the sidebar. The screen shows your alias and a copy button.
- **Stay tidy:** Use a filter that looks for the alias, send those messages to a dedicated folder, and keep general mail separate while still receiving everything in the background.

## Contacts and composing

- When writing an email, type a few letters into the **To:** field and Murena Mail will autocomplete addresses from your Contacts app.
- If you forget a contact name, open **Contacts**, locate it, click the share icon near the email address, and the compose window opens with that address pre-filled.
- To let your browser treat Murena as the default mail app, visit [https://murena.io](https://murena.io), then click the icon that offers to open email links with this page.
- Sync your Rainloop contacts by copying the address book URL: open **Contacts → Settings → ⋮ → Copy link**, switch to the **Mail** tab, open Rainloop, go to settings, enable **Enable remote synchronization**, paste the URL, and authenticate.
- Give the sync a few minutes; the Rainloop UI also lets you configure filters and themes while you’re there.

# Hide My Email

Hide My Email gives you a disposable alias that receives mail without revealing your real address. It is ideal for websites or services where you want to keep your identity private.

## Finding your alias

Open your Murena Workspace account settings via the icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard, then click **Hide My Email** in the sidebar. You can copy the generated address directly from that screen and paste it into any sign-up form or communication.

## Keeping it manageable

Use a dedicated filter to move messages sent to your Hide My Email alias into a separate folder so they do not clutter your main inbox. See [Managing email filters](/support-topics/email-filters#how-to-use-with-hide-my-email) for step-by-step guidance.
