Custom builds are any builds made by /e/ or external users, with possible changes to /e/ sources besides code developed for specific device support. Custom builds are not supported by /e/, and are not publicly available for download on /e/ websites.

## Unofficial
### Stable
- These builds are currently only available on the /e/ smartphones
- Are built using a freeze of the Dev branch, with additional and longer testing

- Release Frequency: Monthly or bimonthly

Unofficial builds are builds made from /e/ sources code, which are supposed to work on the target device. However they may still be in a validation phase, or they do not have yet a maintainer. They do not receive OTA updates. Unofficial builds are available for download on /e/ websites and are tagged as "UNOFFICIAL".

## Community
### Test
- Builds are made by /e/ using the /e/ build infrastructure and signed by Android test keys
- Builds are made to test some new features or an upgrade
- May or may not get regular OTA updates
- These builds are only accesible to testing team members
- Are not available for download on /e/ websites
- Release Frequency: Depending on testing requirement
- Build Naming format: /e/OS-0.7-n-2020021341116-test-mata.zip

The level of quality for these builds is considered high, security updates are applied if possible, but there is not yet or no more official maintainer. Community builds have nightly builds and can be updated OTA. Source code have to be hosted on our GitLab instance, or on trusted sources (LineageOS GitHub group, AOSP).

- Made using /e/ sources code with no modifications in any form
- At times may not have a maintainer as in made by a user who does not own the device

- Release Frequency: Monthly or biMonthly
- Build Naming format: e-0.7-n-2020021341116-UNOFFICIAL-mata.zip
