Youtube app crashes since 3.2-a15

The problem

Since the upgrade to 3.2-a15, the official Youtube app crashes on startup.

Steps to reproduce

  • install youtube app from AppLounge
  • upgrade to /e/OS 3.2-a15 (on a device that supports A15. Reported on FP5 and Pixel 7)
  • use the app for some time. close it, re-open it a few times (it seems to take less than one day)
  • the app crashes on every startup

Workarounds

  • restarting the device seems to help for a short time
  • reinstalling Youtube app is also a temporary workaround (but there is another bug that prevents from installing it on FP5: #8738. Workaround: use Aurora store and spoof the device in its settings to another one, like a Pixel 9a)
