Spellcheck reacts differently on punctuation .

Summary
When writing a word followed by '.' (e.g. last word in sentence) the spellcheck will mark it as wrong. When typing two spaces after the word, it's ok for spellcheck. Even the text is identical.
The problem
Use AOSP-Keyboard and type a correct word (I tested German and English) followed by . And the same word followed by two spaces. The behavior is the independent from the language
What is the expected correct behavior?
In both cases, the spellcheck should work correctly.
Solutions
This behavior did not exist when using 1-10-r (stable) on the same phone.
