Who will use this new feature?
Everyone who wants to set app notifications fo not going via google. Having wider support to use this (yep there is ntfy, but I think at least paid MurenaCloud customers should have option to enable NextPush at their MurenaCloud for their FOSS push-server.
Why these users would like to use this feature?
Some could choose that whenever possible for privacy reasons, even if it wouldn't be privacy risk to use microg implementation of google push messages. Some on the other hand would like simply support development going forward to how push notifications are delivered in a free and open source way.
Also some messaging apps are either planning to implement UnifiedPush support on their FOSS versions, or already are using it, as can be seen at here and it would only be good to see more to join. There are some discussion at Telegram FOSS issues etc.
Examples
User would be able to enable NextPush at their MurenaCloud and install NextPush (if not starting to be included to default installation) to their Android devices (/e/ OS) and startng to use push service not dependent on google at least on some of their apps. For some FOSS versions this would also save battery when compared to current situtation when other methods like webhooks are used by all those apps. Having this option would also give faster notifications for those FOSS apps.
