"Voice" app - installation problems via App Lounge
- /e/ version: 1.5 (Q and S)
- Device model(s): Beryllium
- Device rooted: no
Summary
I am facing difficulties with updating the application "Voice". After having conducted some research it seems likely that a more recent version of the Voice app is available as the version currently installed. At the same time, the latest version of Voice available via App Lounge is older than both previously mentioned version.
Voice app version proposed by App Lounge:
- v6.0.10 from 2022-09-02
Voice app version proposed by F-Droid:
- v6.4.1 (2022-11-5),
- v6.3.0 (2022-10-9),
- v6.2.0 (2022-10-9).
I assume the problem with the outdated state of the Voice app within App Lounge arises from the fact that App Lounge currently does not fetch F-Droid apps not (yet) straight from the F-Droid repository but from cleanapk. Nevertheless, for me there are some additional questions that arise from the problem around the Voice app.
-
Why does App Lounge propose to update Voice, although it seems not to have a more recent version of the app available in its own repositories?
-
Why does App Lounge even not install Voice, even when it has been deleted entirely from the device?
-
App Lounge has app specific pages for all apps (as the one shown as screenshot below). From users side it is unclear what the information provided in the three sections (Ratings, Privacy Analysis, Information) are referring to: Do they refer to the specific app in its latest version or the version that is currently installed on the device (if there is a difference) or do they refer to the latest version of the app that is available within App Lounge. The reason what I am asking: No matter what version of the Voice app I am installing directly from F-F-Droid, App Lounge indicates Voice always as being installed in v6.0.10 (2022-09-02). From user perspective I’d wish this information to be clearer - ideally for updateable apps to see what version is currently installed and what version is proposed to be installed (including both dates and if it applies if there are differences in terms of their privacy scores).
