Advanced Privacy - Number of trackers indicated per app seems not to be correct

  • /e/ version: 1.0rc-Q
  • Device model(s): FP3 + any
  • Device rooted: yes/no

Summary

I noted a discrepancy between the number of trackers that AppLounge is indicating for a specific app and the number of trackers that Advanced Privacy is indicating for the same app.

Example: "ZDFmediathek & Live TV".

  • AppLounge indicates 4 trackers for this particular app.
  • Advanced Privacy. In the "Manage App Trackers" section of Advanced Privacy, for the same app it is indicated "0 blocked trackers out of 0"

The problem

Steps to reproduce

I have tried some random apps with trackers from AppLounge There was always a discrepancy.

What is the expected correct behaviour?

The number of trackers per app indicated by AppLounge and by Advanced Privacy should be the same. --> this is not possible: as explained here Exodus analyzes the code while Advanced Privacy detects trackers.

So the expected behavior is:

  • mentioning on the app home page that we are counting detected trackers: the subtitle of "Manage apps' trackers" is x detected trackers, y allowed trackers (replace app by detected)
  • on the Manage apps' trackers page, the subtitle for each app is shortened into z/x blocked trackers, w leaks. With z the number of blocked trackers, x the number of detected trackers, w the number of leaks.
