Adaptive brightness does not work satifactory

Summary

When adaptive Brightness is activated the brightness makes too big jumps and thus is most times too high or too low.

This is the continuation of this issue #1655 (closed). The issue is from August 2020 and is discussed also in https://community.e.foundation/t/adaptive-brightness-acts-weirdly-sometimes/19665. It has neither been worked on nor fixed since. It was closed because the creator of the ticket did not respond. The issue still persists.

What is the current behavior?

The brightness makes rather big jumps and thus is often too high or too low. In contrast to the linked issue it does not jump every few seconds but the automatic brightness is not usable.

What is the expected correct behavior?

Adapt the brightness appropriately.

Technical informations

According to some posts it may not be limited to FP3 and may be an issue with LineageOS, too.
