[/e/cloud] improving transparency of folders that are being synced
Summary
This is neither an issue notification not a feature proposal but rather
From user perspective it is not obvious what is being synced between the device and cloud.
When opening the web-backend... ...there is Mail, Notes, Tasks, Photos, Calendar and Contacts. All that is being synced between a webapp (or we could name it Nextcloud app) and the respective device app. ...there is the "files" icon as well in the web-backend.
The "files" folder confuses is the one that confuses me a bit.
- There are again folders for all the data that is mentioned above and that are being synced between web and phone apps - such as Mail, Notes, Tasks, Photos, Calendar and Contacts. This is not consistent.
- There is a folder for Photos and one for Pictures. (Confusing)
- There is Talk, but Talk cannot be found on the device.... (Why?)
What I propose:
- In "Files" there are only those folders (visible) for data that is not synced between webapps and device apps.
- On the device there is a folder called "Files" as well containing the same things than in the webversion. New folders and files could be created on either side and would be synced.
- Under files there could be folder that appear by default (ideally they cannot be deleted on neither side) - such as documents or (if needed) Talk, but they should be earmarked in a way that it is obvious to users.
- On the phone the folders for Mail, Notes, Tasks, Photos, Calendar and Contacts on the phone could appear in the top level directory where they already appear currently.
- In the webbackend the folders for Mail, Notes, Tasks, Photos, Calendar and Contacts could be integrated into "Folders" but not being visible.
