Eleven seems to block sound input/output of telephone calls
- /e/ version: 0.16-p-20210422111919-stable-FP3
- Device model(s): Fairphone FP3
Summary
Eleven prevents the phone/call application to output/input sound.
The problem
Steps to reproduce
Start Eleven, start playing music. Get a phone call, the caller can't hear me, I can't hear the caller. Same with speaker on or off.
One of the basic causes of this problem seem to be that you can't stop music from playing in Eleven. You can only pause it. That is when you play some music, press pause/stop either in Eleven itself or in the lock screen, terminate Eleven, restart it, then the same song will still be in "Pause" mode. I recon if there would be a way to really stop Eleven from playing a song, not only to pause it, then Eleven would possibly release the sound output.
I have only had this problem since upgrading from 0.15-20210317106353.
The only thing that I have found that helps when this happens is to reboot the phone, which sucks, because at that very moment I'd like to be talking on the call instead of waiting for the phone to be getting ready again.
This is really a quite bad bug since it means that I have to decide to either use the phone to play music or to use it as a phone. Since the latter is more important, I can't use the phone to play music.
I am not sure this behavior is reliably repeatable. I've had it three times now. I have not tried to reproduce it systematically since it takes two phones and calling back and forth to reproduce it.
What is the current behavior?
When I had used Eleven at some point in the past without rebooting the phone I won't be able to hear the caller and neither s/he will be able to hear me.
What is the expected correct behavior?
Eleven shouldn't be interfering with sound input/output of a call.

Workaround
reboot phone
Possible fixes
I think that if it would be possible to actually stop playing music in Eleven instead of only pausing playing music then this problem would go away.
