Deploy major upgrades for /e/ via OTA without the need of reinstalling /e/ and losing all data
- /e/ version: ALL
- Device model(s): FP3 in my case
Summary
According to https://doc.e.foundation/q-upgrade-fp3 it is only possible to upgrade "Pie" to "Android 10" by reflashing the whole system and losing all stored data. This is a HUGE inconvenience.
The whole thing of being an official supported OS for the Fairphone lies within a locked bootloader, stock recovery and therefore seamless OS updates/upgrades. Manually upgrading everything like in CustomROM days should be an issue of the past with this.
OTA updates should also cover the upgrading of major Android releases, like already done by other vendors.
