Description
What is the current behavior?
The signal bar often shows that my mobile phone doesn't have signal, at all but when I call to my phone it receives phone call without any problem. I can call from it, as well. The signal is not showing graduate meter it just jumps like full half or none what gives poor information about real signal strength. I tested this phone for a long time with a stock ROM, there wasn't any issue, so It's not a hardware failure.
I realized that it might be the issue with firmware of the radio, though.
When I set mobile band for only 3G the signal bar is full all the time. It might be also an issue with switching between the bands. Now I see that phone won't switch between bands properly. I mean, if signal is too weak on 4G it won't switch to 3G fast enough, rather stay at 4G with very low signal what is incomprehensible for me.
What is the improved behavior?
I would like to see more sensitive bar or more accurate. Or maybe it's a case that phone is switching between modes like LTE or 3G. So maybe it would be great to see those symbols next to the bar.
Maybe firmware for radio has to be updated.
Phone should switch between bands (4G, 3G, 2G) properly according to each band signal strength.
What does it bring?
This is very important when you really need to call in case of emergency like in a elevator, in the mountains or whenever the mobile signal is floating. Also when there's low quality of phone call or internet speed or video connection. User can see if the problem is on his side or on the other side of current connection.
It preserves battery consumption if the device have to use more power to have optimal signal strength.
Examples
Using the signal bar you can check if the signal is improving or aggravate when the phone is really needed, for instance outside cities in the places when signal quality is not decent. User can check where the quality of the signal is enough when using the internet to speed it up. and so on.
Validation
When observing the signal bar the signal is changing gradually. If the signal is poor on one band it should change the band quicker.
