🎉 Welcome to the Testing Team
Here we:
- Share the latest test build URLs for manual download
- Share any information which will be applicable for the current release being tested
- Testers can share their feedback about /e/OS apps or build on the Telegram test channel
💬 - Issues in the build will be raised on our backlog after they have been discussed on the Telegram channel
🔁 Switching over to the test environment
For testing we use test builds. To get these test builds you can:
- Get the test build OTA, the easier way
- Manually install the build
⚠️ This process will let you install test version of /e/OS. We advise you to apply it on a test device, or you have to create backup.
Difference between test and regular builds
- Test builds will be released frequently
- Test builds will be unstable and can have issues
- Avoid using test builds on your daily driver
- There are no release notes for test builds as yet
Get the test build
- Enable Developer Options on your device
- Use the test channel
- Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options
- Scroll down to the end of the screen
- Enable the option
Connect to /e/OS test channel
You will now get access to /e/OS test builds from the Updater.
Manually install a build
- Check the links given on the test session issue
- Download it with the curl command
If your device name is missing in the list let us know in the Telegram channel
What this process achieves
- Makes it easy for testers to enter in test environment
- Makes it easy for more users to volunteer to opt to test the builds
- No need to manually install when you want to enter or leave test environment
- No data loss when enter or leaving test mode
- Tester team will now test exactly the same builds that the community will receive
- Related to the previous point, tester team will now test in the same environment than the community
- Clean install on your device
