disabling spell checker does not work

When I try to disable the spell-checker, it does not work.

I go to system > language & input > advanced > spell checker I turn it off using the on/off button

Expected behaviour : I don't want the keyboard to replace what I just typed by its best recommendation.

Behaviour : the keyboard keeps replacing words with its best recommandation.

PS: I don't know if I opened this issue in the right project. The manual in e/documentation does not seem to fit how the gitlab now works. My apologies. Thank you to all the team for the amazing work.
