Phone Call quality with USB-Headset very bad as soon as display turns off

  The problem:

Phone Call quality while using a USB-Headset ist good as long as the display is on. If it turns off the quality of the call gets very bad on both ends. Only every other word can be heard.

I've tried various headsets, with and without USB-Adapter. Same result. Only Bluetooth-Headset works fine.

What to do?
