App permissions failure: can see all files despite limited access

• Device model(s): Sony Xperia 1 V
• Impacted Application: PLAY’A VR Cardboard (Helper application: Cardboard)

The problem

Despite allowing access to selected files only for both applications, I can see everything in PLAY’A VR’s internal file browser, and I can move files using it. (Probably many other apps too can access all files.)
