USB-Tethering ignores Advanced Privacy and DNS settings
- /e/OS version: 3.1.4-a14
- Device model(s): FP4
- Impacted Application: USB-Tethered device
The problem
When using USB-Tethering with mobile data activated the tethered device uses the SIM provider's settings (e.g. DNS server, IP address) instead of the users settings made on the FP4 (i. e. DNS server, IP address hidden via Advanced Privacy).
If I lookup the IP address and DNS server on the /e/ Browser I see exactly the settings I chose. If I do the same on my tethered device (e. g. laptop) while USB-Tethering is activated I see the settings of the provider of the SIM card I use for mobile data.
Expected behavior
The settings made on the phone must be respected when using USB-Tethering.
Steps to reproduce
- Settings / Network & internet / VPN: Advanced Privacy (connected)
- Settings / Network & internet / Private DNS / Private DNS provider hostname: any working private DNS hostname
- Settings / Advanced Privacy / Real IP address / Hide my real IP address: Activated
