The problem
Describe precisely the problem you're facing and add screenshots to illustrate
Sometimes when taking images with the front camera, the images end up corrupted, being instead a black rectangle with a low-resolution grayscale and a low-resolution sepia version of the image on the top, the grayscale image in the top-right corner, and the sepia image in the top-left (see attachment). Depending on the orientation of the device during capture, the sepia and grayscale images can also be on other sides, like the left side for example, but I think that's just due to the Exif orientation metadata. This doesn't always occur, sometimes the images are taken correctly. The two back cameras, however, never have this issue.
When such an issue occurs with the front camera, the camera preview is displayed correctly at all times, only the captured file exhibits this problem.
The issue only occurs with foundation.e.camera
, the regular Open Camera is not affected.
Steps to reproduce
The issue always occurs when taking a picture in a high brightness environment, e.g. when the app automatically sets its ISO to around 100 + a low exposure time (e.g. 1/100s). This can be achieved easily by simply taking pictures anywhere on a sunny day or taking pictures of a bright lightbulb. I also found a workaround: Fix the ISO to any arbitrary value.
