Lockscreen notifications still wake screen despite “Do not wake screen” setting (Fairphone 5, /e/OS 3.0.1)
Description: There is a setting intended to prevent the screen from turning on when new notifications arrive while the device is locked. However, this setting currently has no effect.
Even when the option to not wake the screen on lockscreen notifications is enabled, the screen still turns on every time a new notification arrives while the device is locked.
Expected behavior: When the setting is enabled, the screen should remain off when a notification is received while the phone is locked.
Actual behavior: The screen still wakes up with each new notification, despite the setting being enabled.
Steps to reproduce: Enable the setting to prevent screen wake on lockscreen notifications (found under Settings > Notifications or similar).
Lock the phone.
Receive a notification.
Observe that the screen turns on.
Reproducibility: 90% – happens most of the time (WhatsApp is the exception, all other notifications tested turned on the sccreen).
Device information: Device: Fairphone 5
/e/OS Version: 3.0.1
Android base: (assumed Android 13)
Additional notes: Device was restarted multiple times – no change
Behavior is the same whether charging or on battery
Might be UI-only, i.e. setting exists but is not wired into behavior
