feature request: seamless appointment item integration with app buttons instead of "just" body links
I as a normal user would like to accept/decline (otinally tentative) an invitation by a single tap that is doig the needful for me (add to calender, update status, sendreply) etc. MS Outlook (yes, M$ sorry) for instance is really doing a good job here.
It is basically described here as well (please read): https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/apps/Calendar/issues/19#note_19198
It boils down to the idea that appointment items that are ultimately just email with an ics attachment shoold be handled better as it is done now. the workflow is quite clumsy.
current implementation: Appointments are just emails with one or two (sic!) ics appointments that need to be opend manually. Feedback to the organisator is given or not, sometimes it relies on clicking a link in mailbody.
desired implementation: tl;dr: do it as outlook is doinf it (presumably)
a) hide attachment(s)
b) offer 2-3 butons with reply options accept, decline, optionally tentative, super nice to have each with an additional optional reply text (like on a decline: sorry, have a dentist apppointment)
c) do the needful upon button clicks (add to calender, update status, send reply)
d) do NOT rely on body links for the repply because:
- not all clients adds uch links to the mail body
- some servers do not send notifcations or a configure wrongly
-> You are a mail client. It is your core competency so do not delegate! Things are only done well when done on your own! ;)
