FP4 crashes when audio is played on shelter after upgrade to 2.6.3

  • /e/ version:2.6.3-u-20241217455359-official-FP4
  • Device model(s): FP4
  • Developer mode enabled: yes
  • Device rooted: no
  • Trackers blocker enabled: yes

Summary

Upgraded to 2.6.3, phone crashes and reboots on audio or video on shelter

The problem

Install Spotify app or Firefox on Shelter, start app, play a song (e.g. Youtube video on FF), phone will crash. Interestingly, phone does not crash, if e.g. Youtube videos are played by the native browser in Shelter, or when audio is played by WhatsApp in Shelter. FF installation outside of Shelter can also play Youtube videos without issues. According to AppLounge, all apps are up to date.

What is the current behavior? You can scroll normally through your Spotify playlists or Youtube videos in Firefox on Shelter. But once you start to play a song, every time the screen lock engages, the screen starts to flicker, the phone becomes completely unresponsive and eventually reboots automatically, sometimes into a recovery screen.

What is the expected correct behavior? Songs are played normally in Spotify or FF installed in Shelter
