Adding a new word into dictionary switches to previously opened Internet Settings

  • /e/ version: 2.1-t-20240603406607-stable-FP4
  • Device model(s): FP4
  • Developer mode enabled: yes
  • Device rooted: no
  • Trackers blocker enabled: ?

Summary

When I decide to add a new word into the dictionary during typing a message it always switches apps to Internet Settings (where I previously selected a wi-fi connection).

The problem

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open wi-fi menu (e.g. by long-pressing wi-fi icon in swiped-down top menu) so you can see a selection of wi-fi networks
  2. Then go to homescreen and select a messaging app (e.g. Message - for SMS)
  3. Start writing a message and type a word that is missing from dictionary so it gets red-underlined
  4. Tap the word and select "add to dictionary"

What is the current behavior?

Proper dialog opens up but Message app is switched to previously opened Internet Settings

What is the expected correct behavior?

Proper dialog opens up and Message app should stay opened.

Relevant logs (adb logcat)

Solutions

Workaround

Always close Internet Settings after use.

Possible fixes

Additional Info

I suppose this is not FP4 specific problem. Therefore it's worth noting that my Xperia XA2 with plain LineageOS 20 and 21 does not have this issue. So it is possibly downstream /e/ OS issue.

It is also not a recent regression. I'm experiencing it since I'm using /e/ OS which was also version 1.x
