App lounge: Issue with third party app, remove & reinstall lead to google apps

  • /e/ version: e/OS 2.1-t-20240603406607-stable-FP5 (Android 13)
  • Device model(s): Murena Fairphone 5
  • Developer mode enabled: yes/no
  • Device rooted: yes/no
  • Trackers blocker enabled: yes/no

Summary

Part 1.

i have encountered a strange issue with installing the Pocketsmith Sidekick app. I did install the app and have used it for about 2 weeks. Some days ago I could not login to the app anymore and I tried to reinstall the app. But installing the app does via App Lounge with an anonymous account does not work anymore. Searching the app returns Pocketsmith Sidekick as the top result, including an install button. Only there is a progress wheel spinning over the button and I cannot press it to install.

Part 2.

I was encountering the same issue again. I was forced by the PockeSmith Sidekick app to Sign-In again, after I was using the app for about 2 weeks. But signing-in did not work and the app was continuously displaying an error message. I did not find another solution than to reinstall the app. When pressing the install-button in App Lounge I was redirected to Google PlayStore (?) and needed to press install again. This time PlayStore told me I need to log-in first. After that PlayStore told me that this Google account I was using is not connected to a device, so I still could not install the app.

Then I was deleting both the cache and other data of App Lounge and using an anonymous Google account offered by App Lounge I was able to install the PocketSmith app.

The problem

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open App Lounge and tap on any app to install it. I have internet connectivity.
  2. The Install-button turns into a Cancel button, but no progress in percent is shown as before.
  3. The app is not installed even after half an hour

What is the current behavior?

Paart 1 : App not installed

Part 2 :

  • user is sent to Google Apps
  • App is not installed

What is the expected correct behavior?

App is installed from App Lounge

Technical informations

reported by User on support

With /e/OS 2.1 the app worked and then stopped working. With the current /e/OS 2.2 it is also not installable. It does happen only for this app as far as I can see. I did uninstall the app first before reinstalling it.

I have tried to:

1. Reboot the phone - no change
2. Turn VPN on or off or switch to another country - no change
3. Stop and Start the App Lounge app - no change
4. Use App Lounge with an anonymous user or logged with my Google account - no change

1. Tried to install the Deepl or EasyPark app
2. EasyPark did install (but does not work) and Deepl did not install due to the issue in Ticket#9932492
3. After several attempts to install the apps, they do not appear in the search results anymore
4. Restart the App Lounge app - no change
5. Restart the phone - the apps appear in the App Lounge search again, but the issue from Ticket#9932492 is shown
6. Clearing the App Lounge cache - no change

This might be a download related problem. We could check the install status & info thanks to the below intent: adb shell am broadcast -a foundation.e.apps.action.APP_INSTALL_STATE --receiver-include-background
