Using the app WaveUp (on F-Droid) with the proximity sensor causes a high battery drain.

Is there a chance to get this fixed?
I like the idea of switching on the phone by waving the proximity sensor, because it keeps the power button from wearing off.
The problem
First part of the graph is with WaveUp enabled. Second part (after charging) is without WaveUp.
