[Improvement] Enhance DND Functionality with Visual Indication in Volume Design

  • /e/ version: 2.2-t
  • Device model(s): beyond2lte

Summary

Enhance the Do Not Disturb (DND) functionality by visually indicating the DND status through changes in the volume design, such as adding an additional DND float or changing the volume indicator color to grey when DND is activated.

Description

What is the current behavior?

The Do Not Disturb quick action does not provide a clear visual indication that it is active, except the icon in the status bar. Users can still adjust volume settings for notifications and calls but will not receive any notifications or calls, leading to confusion.

What is the improved behavior?

When the DND function is activated, the volume design should change to visually reflect this status. Possible implementations include:

  • Adding an additional DND float on the screen, when volume levels are displayed
  • Changing the volume indicators/levels color to grey when DND is active.

What does it bring?

  • Provides a clear visual indication that DND is active.
  • Reduces confusion for users regarding the status of their notifications and calls.
  • Enhances overall user experience by making the DND functionality more intuitive.

Mock-ups

(Please add any available mock-ups here)

Examples

When a user activates the Do Not Disturb function, they should immediately see a visual change in the volume design, such as a greyed-out volume indicator or an additional DND float on the screen. This visual cue will confirm that DND is active and that no notifications or calls will be received, despite any adjustments to the volume settings.

Validation

  • Activate the DND function and verify the volume indicator changes color to grey or an additional DND float appears.
  • Adjust volume settings for notifications and calls to ensure no notifications or calls are received while DND is active.
  • Deactivate the DND function and verify the volume indicator returns to its normal state.
