Not possible to verify the Getaround account

  • /e/ version: v2.2-t
  • Device model(s): FP5
  • Developer mode enabled: yes
  • Device rooted: no
  • Trackers blocker enabled: yes

Summary

I was not possible to validate the my Getaround using an /e/OS phone

The problem

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Getaround
  2. Create an account
  3. While renting a car, it will ask you to validate the account (validate driving licence and identity proof)
    • scan driving licence
    • scan passport
    • record a video with your face

What is the current behavior?

  • while scanning driving licence and passport, I saw a "Cannot detect any face" on the screen: the app was not able to detect the face on both documents, but at the end allowed me to upload the pictures
  • while trying to recorde my face, again it showed me "Cannot detect any face": as a consequence, it was not allowing the record, so I was not able to validate my account

What is the expected correct behavior?

I should be able to validate my Getaround account when the Getaround app is running on /e/OS

Technical informations

The framework use for this process is "Onfido (reality identity)"

Solutions

Workaround

I finally used a Samsung Galaxy S9 running Google Android, in order to be able to validate my account.
