Issue with system updater (crashes during update process)
- /e/ version: eOS-1.20-T-dev
- Device model(s): Bluejay (Pixel 6a)
- Developer mode enabled: no
- Device rooted: no
- Trackers blocker enabled: yes (default)
Summary
Hereby I am reporting for another user (average user).
The user tried to update the system to a newer version of /e/OS. In the process of updating the next version of /e/OS was downloaded, but when the updater tried to install the new version (v1.21) the /e/OS-updater stopped working (app crashes, update not finalised).
As a consequence: it appears the current system cannot be updated without a fresh reinstall of the OS.
The problem
Steps to reproduce
In the present case:
- System that was updated gradually to e-1.20-T-dev on a Pixel 6a. The update always worked as expected.
P.S. On another identical device (Pixel 6a), the update process from e-1.20-T-dev to e-1.21-T-dev some months ago worked seamlessly.
What is the current behavior?
- When attempting to update from e-1.20-T-dev to e-1.21-T-dev, the download of the new version worked as expected. When attempting to install the new version, the update process aborted (app crashes, update process not proceeded).
What is the expected correct behavior?
The update from e-1.20-T-dev to e-1.21-T-dev should just work. If it does not there should be a simple easy to use fall-back solution in case it does not in a first place (a solution that does not require a fresh install).
