Some contacts are invisible from Message app (auto-filled ones from received SMS)
- /e/ version: 2.2-rc-s (also on 2.2-beta-r, and previous versions), French interface
- Device model(s): Galaxy S7 herolte
- Developer mode enabled: yes
- Device rooted: no
- Trackers blocker enabled: yes
Comments
- Don't seems to be related to a particular phone or a recent version
- I use a French version, if any (e.g. if I've given a bad app name translation, or if this is a language specific issue)
- Any chance to be related to #7416 (closed) issue ??
Summary
When I get a message (SMS) from someone and I create a contact from it, the contact's mobile phone number is registered in a Cell;pref=1
category and not as Mobile
. As a consequence, when searching the contact's name in Message app, this person is not visible (and become visible if I change the category), since there is no "Mobile number".
The problem
Steps to reproduce
- Receive a SMS in Message from someone not registered in Contacts app
- Create a new contact from there (just indicate the name, the number is supposed to be automatically filled)
- In Message, create a new message and search the name you just created, for this purpose.
- In addition, it's possible to verify that the new contact has a number registered as
Cell;pref=1
and notMobile
. - One can also switch this number category (in Contact app) to
Mobile
and then verify that the contact is reachable in Message.
What is the current behavior?
The contact registered from a received message is not visible when his/her name is search in Message.
What is the expected correct behavior?
Any contact filled from a received message should be visible when searching about his name in Message.
Solutions
Workaround
See above (manually switch the number's category, in Contact).
Possible fixes
- Message could register new contacts with their numbers as
Mobile
ones. - Maybe / or the Message app should also search about
Cell*
numbers in addition toMobile
ones. This would allow to discover former contacts already registered with aCell...
category.
