Weather widget - provide more detailed weather info upon request
- /e/ version: v.1.14
- Device model(s): any
Summary
The weather widget provide current weather info and a quick overview for the next days. Whereas a single icon representing the weather for a whole day often is not enough (especially in time of sudden heavy rainfall).
Therefore, it would be good if upon request (a click) more detailed information at least for the current day was provided.
Description
What is the current behavior?
The current weather information is provided for the users current location:
- a snapshot of the momentary situation (location with an weather icon, rain probability, wind, current temp, min/max temp)
- outlook on the weather for today and the coming 4 days (icon + min/max temp)
Example: My location is Berlin, 8am, Tuesday morning, it is sunny outside. Whereas the icon indicates it should be cloudy outside, the forecast for today is rain. But there is no quick way finding out when it will be raining.
What is the improved behavior?
Ideally, weather widget allows the user to access more detailed weather information (by a click and a website opening up in the browser set as standard browser). This information could look like as follows:
Source: https://www.meteoblue.com/en/weather/week/berlin_germany_2950159
Ideally, the widget will NOT be fully clickable, this may lead to unwanted website opening by average users, Instead, it might be enough to have a little referred to 'more' information in the upper right corner (see mockup below).
What does it bring?
- A more informed user
- Quick and more detailed weather information without the need to start to search in the web.
P.S.
- In my case I found out that it actually won't be raining at all....
