OnePlus 8 manual installation: downgrading is not allowed

Steps to reproduce

with latest stable /e/os Build:

  • TWRP stucks at 47% and says reboot to inactive Slot (a or b) to end the installation.

-official e recovery stucks at 47% says that the signature auf the .zip file failed i clicked "install anyway" but then it said that the firmware is to old and i cant proceed a downgrade or something like that

with the latest dev build: only tried with official /e/ recovery menu

  • installation works fine until it boots up in the os. it starts but the touchscreen drivers arent working.

What i tried in general what didnt worked:

  • installing lineage os first to get the drivers
  • copying the info files from the dev version to the stable version to bypass the downgrade exeption

The following problems have come to my attention since the last email to you:

  • The recovery system of the stable build for the OnePlus 8 "instantnoodle" is broken. (I install is via command "fastboot flash recovery STABLE_RECOVERY_FILE.img" and when I boot into this after the "successful" installation process of the recovery system, I am sent back to the fastboot menu immediately). (It seems to have installed the recovery system of the dev build as this works). Installing the /e/os stable build using the dev build recovery system: The process:
  1. i boot into the /e/ recovery system.
  2. i go into the advanced settings
  3. activate ADB
  4. go to "Apply Update
  5. go to "Apply Update from ADB
  6. i type in the command prompt on my system "adb sideload EOS_STABLE_BUILD_FILE.zip".
  7. it installs
  8. and installs and so on
  9. then at 47% installation process I get a message on my phone screen "The signature verification of the file has failed" or something like that
  10. i go to accept
  11. i get a second message shortly after the signature message that goes something like "The operating system installation will downgrade your firmware".
  12. i accept
  13. the installation process in the CMD.EXE window on my PC hangs at 47 percent and on my cell phone I get the message that downgrading is not allowed (see picture attached to the email). Info: I could not get logfiles via ADB. But I think that the picture in the attachment is already a good help.
