feature request: enable sorting function and/or history clearance for trackers in *Trackers Blocker* (Advanced Privacy)

  • /e/ version: all up to latest (for me it´s currently 1.12.3)
  • Device model(s): all (for me it´s Samsung S7)
  • edit after system update 1.11 -> 1.12.3

Summary

  • enable sorting function for collected trackers per app in Trackers Blocker

and/or

  • enable history clearance for collected trackers per app in Trackers Blocker

Description

What is the current behavior?

Trackers Blocker simply lists trackers per app in an numero/alphabetical order. Every "new" tracker is added to the existing list which grows in size over time...

That is fine for most apps but for browsers this list will become huge as the trackers are not per se app-specific (like for most other apps) but specific to the sites that are visited with this browser.

A huge list becomes hard to handle for troubleshooting in the case something does not function on a website/service: it is hard (or imposible) to identify the trackers associated to a specific website/service as they do not even have a time stamp or the like.

But being able to identify the trackers associated to a specific website/service is needed for test purposes during troubleshooting as one might want to allow certain trackers for the sake of function. (allowing all trackers for the browser is not an option in that scenario)

What is the improved behavior?

  • a "clear list of trackers" -button (per app) would allow to identify the latest trackers and relate them to the specific website/service ... workflow: clear history -> visit specific website/service -> check new entries which are (probably) related to website/service -> enable/disable trackers to check whether they are function-related or not.

  • (1.12.3: "reset" of blockers per app might be just what I describe as history clearance but does not work ... least not on my S7)

  • a sorting function for the trackers (per app) would allow to identify the latest entries and associate them with the specific website/service ... workflow: visit specific website/service -> sort entries, identify latest entries which are (probably) related to website/service -> enable/disable trackers to check whether they are function-related or not.

What does it bring?

allows troubleshooting and identifying the responsible tracker(s) in case the blocked tracker(s) break(s) the function of a website or service

Mock-ups

see description above, design is up to developpers of AP-app, nothing special I guess

Examples

Blokada app, personalDNSfilter -app and others show history of visited or blocked hosts and therefore help identifying relations between website/service and trackers

Validation

not sure but I guess history clearance of collected trackers per app or sorting function of this list can easily be checked (?)
