Tethering and Portable Hotspot Bug
Summary
(Summarize the bug encountered, briefly and precisely) When creating and sharing a hotspot spot and selecting the 5Ghz frequency, it has been noticed that only a 2.4Ghz frequency is used. The phone (Moto X Play) is confirmed to support both frequencies.
Steps to reproduce
(How one can reproduce the issue - this is very important) You must ensure the phone is connected to a mobile carrier before continuing otherwise the 5Ghz option is not available. In android setup, go to tethering and portable hotspot. Select "setup a hotspot". Select WPA2 PSK for shared security. Enter an acceptable password. Select 5Ghz Band.
What is the current behavior?
(What actually happens) The wifi hotspot always gets created, its just that it only uses the 2.4Ghz band.
What is the expected correct behavior?
(What you should see instead) I would expect clients to connect using the 5Ghz band.
Relevant logs and/or screenshots
(Paste any relevant logs - please use code blocks (```) to format console output,
logs, and code as it's very hard to read otherwise.)
(You can use adb logcat
command to capture log of you device, when connected to a computer)
