Summary
Disabling network DNS results in failing access to open Wifi hotspots with login/consent page. Add a notice to the DNS settings about this issue.
Description
What is the current behavior?
When network DNS is disabled it is not possible to login to open Wifi hotspots with a login/confirmation page. The page will not be displayed. It took me several month of research and some weeks of communicating with the helpdesk to receive the answer:
In order to get connection settings from the router / your service provider, you should be using the default setting: Use network DNS (default is YES) , then the second option: DNS, where you put custom IP does not apply. Only in this situation, you can get the consent page address automatically from the WiFi router.
What is the improved behavior?
A notice in the DNS settings about this issue. E.g.
Disabling network DNS will result in failing access to open Wifi hotspots that display a login or consent page.
What does it bring?
I cannot imagine that I am the only user that encountered this issue.
Examples
If users know about this issue they know that they need to enable network DNS if they want to use such a Wifi hotspot.
