Possible damage to US Retail baseband
Damage to US Retail baseband
Summary
Voice calls broke up while using the \e\ nightly build. After flashing stock software and firmware, voice calls no longer worked at all. I don't have proof that it was this ROM that caused the damage, but it is very likely since my voice circuits stopped working after flashing it.
Steps to reproduce
Install \e\ on a US retail Moto G Peregrine
What is the current behavior?
SMS and data work, but voice no longer does, even after flashing stock firmware.
What is the expected correct behavior?
Expected voice, SMS, and data all to work.
Relevant logs and/or screenshots
(Paste any relevant logs - please use code blocks (```) to format console output,
logs, and code as it's very hard to read otherwise.)
(You can use adb logcat
command to capture log of you device, when connected to a computer)
Possible fixes
If this ROM is not meant to support the US version of the Moto G, please make this clear. You may not be legally liable, but there is some moral responsibility to warn users to make sure they have the correct baseband before installing your software. Basebands are very sensitive and easy to destroy with incorrect firmware. This was most likely a dumb mistake on my part, but could easily have been avoided by listing the type of baseband this ROM is meant for.
