Teracube 2e cannot make and receive calls on 4G AT&T network (Straight Talk)

  • /e/ version: Android 10, 0.22-20220228166119
  • Device model(s): Teracube 2e
  • Device rooted: yes/no
  • Baseband Version: MOLY.LR12A.R3.MP.V99.P4

Summary

No voice calls in or out, text messaging works sending & receiving, connection to 4g LTE network active. This phone work for a little more than 1 month, then around the time of /e/ OS 0.21 update these issues started.

The problem

Steps to reproduce

Connection only to 4g LTE, connection to 3g previously worked and allowed calls, but now cannot connect to 3g. This is likely due to AT&T shutting down 3G network.

What is the current behavior?

When I attempt to make a call, the phone acts like it is calling, yet there is no dial or ring tone, it stays this way for around 30 seconds, then disconnects from the attempted call.

when someone tries to call me, the call goes immediately to voice mail.

The phone is connecting to 4g LTE, VoLTE is active and enabled, with WIFI turned off I can connect to the Internet and send/receive text messages. The phone does not connect to 3g or 2g, I think those services went down in my area recently. When I was able to connect to 3g, the phone would make calls, but this has changed with no 3g connectivity.

The mobile operator's are saying it is an OS issue because everything on their end shows the phone is connecting properly to the network.

Solutions

Workaround

Other SIM card works (Verizon), connection to 4g LTE with text & calling work.

I guess only IMS settings are missing, at least that was the case for me:

  1. In Settings > Network and Internet > Mobile network > Advanced > Access points names, add access point (+ button on the top)
  2. Fill as follows:
    • Name: ims
    • APN: ims
    • APN type: ims
    • APN protocol IPV4/IPV6
    • APN roaming protocol IPV4/IPV6
  3. Hit three dots button on the top right, save
  4. restart the phone
