Browser - why not Firefox?

Hi all,

I'm surprised that /e/ uses a fork of Jelly when there's already a privacy-focussed browser for Android-based OSes - Firefox.

I get the impression that much of the FLOSS/privacy community distrusts Mozilla for some reason. Is that the case with /e/? Please explain why because I'd really like to understand.

I know that Mozilla don't like Firefox branded products to be commercially distributed without their blessing, but it's possible to use Fennec via F-Droid. Is that a possibility.

From my point of view, when I use /e/ I will use Firefox/Fennec, but I will do my best to test the Jelly-fork even though it's not as good as Firefox.
