Brightness of pictures taken with flash is too low or too high (except in torch mode)

  • /e/ version: 0.20
  • Device model(s): 2e
  • Device rooted: yes

Summary

When you want to take a picture in a dark environment (so with the flash), 3 modes can be used:

  • Automatic : will be triggered only in dark environment (the one selected in the screenshot below).
  • On : will always be triggered.
  • Torch : the flash is always-on, even before and after taking the picture.

With the "Back Camera, Ultra-wide: ID 2":
  • Auto: the picture is always too bright

What is the expected correct behavior?

Pictures should be taken correctly in "automatic" mode (which is the default mode) and in "on" mode.

Solutions

Workaround

For now to be able to take pictures in low light environment, the torch mode is the only one that can be used. Also, Open Camera works properly.

Possible fixes

Don't know if it's possible and easy, but modifying the delay between "pressing the picture button" and "actually taking the picture" might help.
