Impossible to delete a file from Files app

  • /e/ version: 0.19-20211027142975 Pie
  • Device model(s): S8
  • Device rooted: no

Summary

It is impossible to delete a file or many files from the application "Files". Regarding pictures/videos it can be done from Gallery. This didn't happen in previous versions. I don't have the problem on my Moto g(7)

The problem

Steps to reproduce

I try and delete a file/several files from the application "Files". I get the confirmation message, I tap "OK".

What is the current behavior?

Immediately after validating the message, I'm sent back to home screen. When I check if the file is deleted, it isn't. After a few trials, I get the message "Files systematically stops" on which I have 2 choices: get more info on the app or close the app.

What is the expected correct behavior?

I stay in the app and the file(s) is/are deleted. Eventually I get a message indicating the file(s) were deleted successfully.

Solutions

Workaround

For pictures/video I can go to Gallery and delete the file(s) from there. For other files I didn't find a workaround.

Possible fixes
