The problem
Steps to reproduce
Check icons in items over the Settings.
What is the current behavior?
I counted six types/styles of icons:
- colour icons in the top Settings level (not transparent, theme independent, largest icons of all)
- Colour icons of smaller size elsewhere than top level and occasionally, see exceptions in item 3. Probably already since 0.9 #1519 (closed)
- grey colour icons (partially transparent, darker grey for light theme, lighter grey for dark theme, small icons)
The icon to the DNS settings is an exception of item type 1. is in the screenshot. Looking onto other icons, I would expect the ringing icon in grey style.

- pentagon colour icons in Accessibility Settings (not transparent, theme independent) - an unexpected style totally. Me seeing it, I question, whether there is any additionally meaning behind the pentagon shape. Was it a certain Android version that introduced pentagons?
- colour icons for Bluetooth devices (this is a very good choice of colours)
- colour icons of particular apps, where the Settings item is an app selector or app dependent item.
In the following, an opportunity has been missed to place the Openkeychain icon into settings.:
What is the expected correct behavior?
Settings icons shall display a consistent look, where possible.
I personally like colour icons where possible. For me colour distinguishing is a part of visual navigation.
On the other hand, I understand the tendency for neat grey transparent icons. They generate the least bias and are definitely consistent over the group.
