Enabling Storage Access Framework Setting in Open Camera On Samsung S9+ Makes Gallery Unable to Render
- /e/ version: 0.17-o-20210531117530-stable-star2lte
- Device model(s): SM-G965F
- Device rooted: no
Summary
When enabling the storage access framework in the Open Camera application, the gallery will not be able to preview the photos.
The problem
Steps to reproduce
Going from stock /e/ on purchased Samsung Galaxy S9+.
- Add an SD Card.
- Open Camera App.
- Click Hamburger Menu on Upper Right.
- Click "More Camera Controls".
- Locate the "Use Storage Access Framework" setting and slide it to the right to enable it.
- Specify a location on the SD Card to default the location to save pictures from camera.
- Take a photo
- Preview the photo on the lower right in camera or open the Gallery and it will be black.
What is the current behavior?
Once you take a photo the preview leads to a black file that cannot preview the photo just taken.
What is the expected correct behavior?
The gallery should be able to preview the photo taken. Since this is a setting inside Open Camera I would think that this bug would go under the Open Camera App and not under the Gallery.

Solutions
Workaround
Use the main memory and not the SDCard. Keep moving files from the phones main memory into the SD Card manually.
