Stuck on unlocking pattern
- /e/ version: 0.17-20210624121450, Android 9 (Pie)
- Device model(s): Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X
- Device rooted: no
Summary
Suddenly I can not access my phone because set pattern does not unlock the device, while other functionalities work as expected (those that can be made with device locked: toggle WiFi, rotation, dismiss notifications...)
The problem
Seems a quite usual problem on Android systems, even official ROMs. It does not happen only with patterns, but also with PINs. See: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/stuck-at-lockscreen-pattern-not-recognised.3295205/
Technical informations
I manually upgraded Android version from 7.1.2 to 9, with eOS official dev Pie build for my device.

Solutions
Workaround
As said on here, if you can access Recovery Mode and TWRP:
- Enter TWRP (
volume up
+power
on most devices) - Go to
Advanced
>File Manager
>/data/system
- Delete
locksettings.db
,locksettings.db-wal
andlocksettings.db-shm
- Reboot into system (main TWRP screen,
Reboot
>System
) and not pattern will be asked. Then you could set a pattern again from settings.
