Feature proposal: add blocker using hosts file
I think its a very good addition to /e/ if people can switch on an add blocker based on the /etc/hosts file. At my local network i use a pi-hole: https://pi-hole.net/ . This is DNS based, so when an add wants to be loaded, its redirected to 127.0.0.1 which contains an empty file.
I took the pi-hole gravity list and created an hosts file of it, see attachment. For current add blockers you must root your phone or install a local vpn. Using the /etc/hosts file has the big advantage you can block adds and use your personal VPN so you can hide your IP.
Of course this must be safely implemented because an editable hosts file is a potential security leak, but i'm sure there is a way to do it. (maybe using selinux to prohibit all processes except the e add-block-switch) I installed the attached hosts file to my unoficial /e/ 0.2 build, and i really like it!
