Little features and improvements list
Hi ! My device is the Samsung Galaxy J5 2015 | SM-J500FN | j5nlte on Oreo.
1) Apps name
-
Be able to see the entire name of an app instead of 3 dots. There is enough space in order to have the name in 2 rows.
-
Be able to hide the name of apps in order to have a clean homescreen.
2) Screenshot
Everybody takes screenshots, so why do we have to find the option in order to activate the ability to make screenshot ? It should be activate by default.
3) Persistant notifications
In order to stay active in Oreo, Telegram and Signal have a constant notification. By default, those notifications should be at the lower level of priority in order not to see them in the status bar, taking up unnecessary space.
4) Notes app without account
Everybody use the Note app, but we have to connect to an account in order to use it. It shouldn't be the case.
5) Battery pourcentage
-
In my stock ROM, when my phone was turned off and I was charging it, there was the batery animation AND the pourcentage below, which isn't the case with /e/ so we don't know how much the battery is charged.
-
Furthermore, in order to display the charge screen, I can only press the power button. I would like to be able to display the charge screen by pressing the home button.
6) More documentations about MicroG
A lambda user can't understand by itself the MicroG section. Doumentation is needed, maybe with a documentation app like explained in that topic :
About the “/e/ application” or “/e/ control center”, I agree that an /e/ application pre installed with detailed articles made by the /e/ team (or not) about all the aspects of privacy in order to inform people is a must have. It could show people why that specific setting is important and help them to understand what they are using.
It could have a “News” section with latest articles about security, data leak, e foundation projects etc made by the /e/ team, a “HowTo” section with basic tutorials and explanations of all settings, and why not a shortcut section with shortcuts of all privacy and security settings.
It could definitely be an easy, non intrusive and understandable app for every users.
7) Notifications reminder
I use that feature in Lolipop in order not to miss any important notification, even if I missed the first one. Sadly, I don't find that feature in /e/ so I suppose it has been removed. I would like use it again.
8) Settings app design
The settings app is weird. It shouldn't have useless space on the left if there is no icon. Here are some examples :
