Q dialer is asking for location access

  • /e/ version: 0.14-q
  • Device model(s): Beryllium + FP3

#2140 (closed)

Summary

The dialer in Android Q is an upgraded version. When clicking on the top bar (search contacts, IMG-1), a windows is popping up asking for location access (To get contact information for places near you, allow access to your location", IMG-2) This is a functionality where I am not sure if it is desirable within an eOS/privacy context. This function should be removed or deserves at least further explaination.

There are 2 more issues within the same new dialer that had already been reported:

  • Voice Search Icon (#2140 (closed))
  • ToS and PP to be degoogled (#2139 (closed))
