Test and validate if support of USB-C to Ethernet adapters
- /e/ version: 0.14
- Device model(s): Stable at least and community OS if possible.
Summary
Enable data connection with Ethernet to USB-C adapter
Description
What is the current behavior?
Many users would like to use an USB-C to Ethernet adaptor to use their phone to connect to the internet. Either when they have no wifi signal, either because they want to limit radiations from radios. Most hardware support USB OTG but we haven't formally investigated if /e/OS does it at the software level, what is needed if not supported today, and confirmed when supported that it works properly.
I have tested a USB-C Ethernet adapter on a /e/-Galaxy S9+ running 0.13, i was not able to make it work. I believe it might be operational on the /e/-GS290 and the /e/-Fairphone 3+ and 3 but i have not tested personally.
What is the improved behavior?
I can connect my /e/-phone to Ethernet and surf the web without wifi or data turned on.
What does it bring?
Data connection when wifi or mobile connections aren't always available and reliable. Limit the wave radiations.

c'est un fairphone 3+ et un adaptateur https://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Ethernet-Adapter-1000Mbps-Compatible/dp/B07BLMCB2H c'est celui que mon fils utilisais pour son iphone. C'est plug and play, rien à faire. Par contre dans la section settings / network and internet je ne vois pas d'infos concernant la connexion ethernet mais ça marche quand même.
