Green tint in front camera FP3+

  • /e/ version: 0.13-q, 0.14-q
  • Device model(s): FP3+

Summary

With low light levels and LED lighting (standard warm white for living spaces), the front cameras white balance fails and pictures get a green tint.

The problem

Steps to reproduce

Take an FP3+ and use front camera with low light level and LED lights. Having much white (e. g. a wall) in the field of view helps to see the effect.

What is the current behavior?

The picture has a green tint.

What is the expected correct behavior?

The picture should look normal.

Possible fixes

This was already discussed in the fairphone forum in this thread (same as above). At the end of the thread is seems much like the problem was fixed by fairphone devs via a software update (I cant verify, because I'm on /e/). As there is a collaboration between fairphone and /e/, it should be pretty easy to fix this, because you can just ask the fairphone devs how they did it and do the same.
