MMS send and receive is not reliable

The problem

Steps to reproduce

Compose group MMS and try to send or try receiving group MMS.

What is the current behavior?

Outgoing message spins. Incoming message shows as "photo" from sender but does not show up in group MMS.

What is the expected correct behavior?

Outgoing message should be sent. Incoming message should show up in group chat, not as photo from sender.
