Install on Moto G [falcon] fails with ERROR 7

Summary

Steps to reproduce

I downloaded the 20180911 and 20180912 zips and followed all instruction to install the zip. In TWRP the install aborts with the message "ended with ERROR: 7".

My phone:

• MotoG falcon, unlocked
• AP Fastboot 41.05 (2013-12-06)
• latest TWRP 3.2.3-0

What is the current behavior?

ERROR 7

What is the expected correct behavior?

Install proceeds without error

Possible fixes

I tried and failed to install LineageOS. Same ERROR 7.

There is a dangerous workaround https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762

The workaround is to remove the assert statements at the top of the updater-script.

The safe solution is to update the assert statements so that installation works without problems.
