Xiaomi phones reboot randomly

  • Reproducible with the last /e/ version: On latest version available

  • Reproducible with LineageOS: Unknown but probably

Summary

When the phone loses connectivity to the mobile data provider the phone reboots. The phone reboots occassionally when it is not possible to determine whether connectivity to mobile data was lost.

The problem

Steps to reproduce

I can reproduce the error in 2 ways:

  1. Simply move the phine to my office where there is no mobile connection and the phone will reboot.
  2. Navigate to settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network > Advanced. The untick automatically select network. At this point the phone will freeze and then reboot. After reboot the automaticaly select network option is ticked.

What is the current behavior?

Phone freezes, then reboots.

What is the expected correct behavior?

Phone should not reboot when searching for other mobile networks
