WarnWetter App not working as expected
- /e/ version: 0.9-o-2020043052057
- Device model: star2lte
- When it started to occur: first try
- Reproducible with the last /e/ version: yes
- Reproducible with LineageOS: no
I downloaded and installed the WarnWetter app (Publisher: Deutscher Wetterdienst) from the /e/ app store. The app is the official weather warnings app for Germany provided by the German Weather Service and is very pppular and widely used in Germany. The app version available in the /e/ app store is: 2.4.0 (2405) <-- which is outdated
The app installation is successful and the app itself is starting, but one of the main functions is unusable. While adding a location/favorite by choosing the plus symbol and adding a location like e.g. Berlin - Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and finally choosing "add favorite" the app is showing the error message: "push registration failed".
As far as I know it uses the google services to provide the push features, so anything in this context might be failing with MicroG. Another possible source of error might be the outdated version in the /e/ app store since the most recent version of the app is 2.5.1 in contrast to the 2.4.0 in the /e/ app store.
More information about the app, including the apk download, are available at: https://www.dwd.de/DE/leistungen/warnwetterapp/apk/apk_download.html
